The Vice Minister of Health counterattacks Elisa Carrió on the Garrahan case: "We won't allow you to psychopathic people like you did during the Macri administration."

The Vice Minister of Health counterattacks Elisa Carrió on the Garrahan case: "We won't allow you to psychopathic people like you did during the Macri administration."

Amid tensions between the national government and resident physicians at Garrahan Hospital over a salary claim, Deputy Health Minister Cecilia Loccisano criticized Elisa Carrió for her remarks regarding Economy Minister Luis Caputo.

" We won't allow you to psychopathic people like you did during Mauricio Macri's administration," Loccisano responded to Carrió in a tweet that was also reposted by Health Minister Mario Lugones and Finance Secretary Pablo Quirno. "We will clean up the health system that Kirchnerism destroyed," he added.

"Yes, Lilita. It's a scandal that there are 953 bureaucrats at Garrahan and only 478 full-time doctors. And that the administrative staff's salaries exceed the budget of the entire medical staff. That's why we're putting the hospital in order , so that the health of the children and the well-being of the doctors weigh more than the idiots on duty ," wrote the deputy minister, echoing the views of other government officials such as spokesperson Manuel Adorni and Undersecretary of the Press, Javier Lanari.

Loccisono was responding to a harsh tweet from the former congresswoman on Wednesday, warning: "Toto Caputo, not with the children. You're going to end up in jail, and I'm going to take care of that . The Garrahan Hospital situation is a moral scandal. We continue to denounce it."

Lilita has been at odds with the Minister of Economy for some time, whom she targets over the adjustments and the situation of retirees.

Another Civic Coalition leader, national representative Maximiliano Ferraro , also joined the fray. "Mrs. Vice Minister, don't be cynical or lying, although it's inevitable having been part of the political and union 'caste' family for so many years... If any of what you say were true, you are responsible and part of the problem: you have worked in the Ministry of Health as a senior official since the 2000s and have been with all the ministers and governments: Kirchner, Massa, and Ginés were your bosses," he responded lapidary.

"You should be ashamed of yourself and keep quiet. You would never work for the miserable wages the doctors and residents at Garrahan are paid . I'm not saying that, you said it yourself," she concluded.

The pediatric hospital is funded 80% by the national government and 20% by the Buenos Aires City Government.

Workers at the pediatric hospital began a series of protests this week, including a full strike this Thursday, May 29 , and a march to the Ministry of Health. However, the Ministry of Human Resources ordered a 15-day mandatory conciliation on Wednesday .

Although the salary dispute has been going on for a long time, in recent months, doctors at Garrahan have expressed growing concern about the "exodus" of experts who left the health center in search of better pay. The same is true of the declining number of residents choosing that hospital for their careers.

The biometric system, a new controversy

In addition to the intersection with Carrió, Loccisano announced that starting next Sunday , a biometric system will be installed to monitor staff attendance: "We're going to fire anyone who isn't working," he said.

In a previous tweet that began "Garrahan Hospital - The truth behind the conflict," the deputy minister said that "The Ministry supports Garrahan Hospital and is carrying out a restructuring with management and control. Because the money has to go where it belongs: to the doctors and the children. The biometric system will be launched on June 1st to guarantee this."

Government sources told Clarín that "there is resistance" to the new time-card system, specifically from those who "don't work" or have union or political interests. "The ñoquis are leaving," they emphasized.
